Hi Colin,
I fitted a Varta. I actually did what X5 D sport salibury did. Ran a tape over the hole size and fitted the biggest battery that would fit. I was concerned about the internal impedance of the whole car ( everything is in parallel) but reasoned that I will never have the battery that flat. The bigger battery has a lower impedance which means more current draw from the alternator and a little more heat.
