Aux in retrofit - i'm soooo confused and need basic guidance

Post by storminmike » Sun Feb 20, 2011 9:05 pm

The car...54 plate sport without changerin boot but radio/cd dash

Wanted...THE part number for the retrofit aux in cable.....as i've searched so much, found conflicting part numbers and prices and supposed fits dependant on what's in the dash or boot.

I think i've gone round in circles

Can it (in my case) be plug and play?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeelp....please?
look for this

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mod ... g=65&fg=95
Thanks

Well according to this I need 65120153502 @ $76.50 :o

On many reads (perhaps on xoutpost) I swear I came across a thread that offered an alternative (genuine BMW part) for less....but maybe I'm going senile
Does this help

http://www.ge39.com/files/EBADoc11512-auxin.pdf
Thanks...65120153502 is again referenced on here too
I also believe I have a SA661+650

Here's the best bit....which I think I now understand but would like conformation

From the PDF document

Cars with SA661+650/663 only

Connect branch C2 to plug X18126
in my english....plug the little plug (c2) bit into the gaping slot within the existing big plug (X18126) in the back of the radio.... Correct?

EXCEPT WHEN

If the plug X13321 is already in the car, the 2 cables from branch C2 must be disconnected and connected to the same pins in X13321
in my english....plug X13321 is something (similair in looks to C2) that might already be occupying the gaping slot within the existing big plug X18126. Plug X13321 is still needed cos it does something else (maybe CD in boot which I dont have) so rip the 2 wires out of C2 and put them in the same holes in X13321... Correct?

If I've read it true AND plug X13321 does exist then $76.50 seems extravagent as it will be a mini plug in....a bit of cable and branch C2 tossed in the bin leaving 2 wires...however....doesn't stereo require left/right/ground....as in 3 wires?

No wonder I'm off my head....care to assist further

EDIT

More elaboration suggest that there ARE 3 wires in the aux kit....that (If the plug X13321 is already in the car) have to be pullled from the existing kit plug C2 and pushed into the X13321

2nd EDIT

FOUND THIS>>>>WOW

http://www.xoutpost.com/electronics/nav ... ences.html

It says

- If you do have a navigation system then you need one of these part numbers:

82 11 0 149 391 Retail $39.95
65 12 0 153 503 Retail $79.00

- If you do NOT have a navigation system then you need one of these part numbers:

82 11 0 149 390 Retail $39.95
65 12 0 153 502 Retail $79.00

As far as I can tell the 391 & 503 cable kits are the same and the 390 & 502 cable kits are the same. The only difference I can tell is that the 502/503 cable kits were released in Europe and the 390/391 cable kits were released in the USA.

Not super cheap but cheaper @ $39.95 if its true....but can't find 82 11 0 149 390 on realoem
