XDrive Gran Tourer

Post by X5Sport » Sat Apr 28, 2018 3:19 pm

Have ordered a 220d xDrive Gran Tourer MSport in Estoril Blue.  Dealer gave £6k discount overall and a free Service Pack so happy with that.  It replaces our Škoda Superb Estate and I’m not overly impressed with the build quality of their current models - nor the current prices (which have risen despite the models having lower specs).

About 8 - 12 weeks for delivery so the wait begins.

Have put all of the ‘Packs’ on the build and a couple of other bits besides.

Took Sid10 recommendation about tow bar so added that instead of bike rack prep.  The 220d xDrive is an auto too (8sp) with no manual option.

Having driven the Active Tourer version we were very impressed.  Same sized engine as the Škoda (2-litre/190bhp) however the BMW feels far more willing and lively.  Could be a better engine map, or the Twin Scroll Turbo.  Hoping for better economy too.

We were very tempted by a 640D GC as they are currently on 0% and £13k deposit contribution.  Still want one but my head says that with kids it might not (for now) be the most ‘practical’ choice  :( :'(

The spec....

Estoril Blue
B47 TwinPower Turbo engine 190bhp, 400Nm EU6 with DPF & SCR emissions controls
xDrive transmission.
Driver & Comfort packs (Park Distance Control, Active Cruise Control with Stop/go function, Park Assist, High Beam Assist, Heated MSport steering wheel)
Technology Package (Reversing Assist Camera, Adaptive Matrix Icon LED headlights with Extended Functions, )
Communication package (BMW Online services, Real Time Traffic Information, Information Plus, BMW Remote Services, Navigation Plus - gives a bigger iDrive screen etc, WiFi Hotspot prep)
Traffic Jam Assist
Extended range fuel tank (adds 10L)
DAB Radio
Comfort Access
Electronic Damper Control
Sport automatic transmission
Performance Control
Variable sport steering
Electrically folding folding exterior mirrors
Detachable Towbar
Panoramic glass sunroof
Sun protection glass
Folding, auto dimming exterior mirrors (part of a pack)
Auto dimming rear-view mirror (also part of a pack)
Electric front seats with driver memory - part of the Comfort package
Lumbar supports
Heated front seats
Black Dakota Leather with MSport highlights and perforations.
Sports seats (part of a MSport trim package)
Stream Wood interior trim with Pearl chrome finisher
Head-up display
Voice Control (Tech Pack)
Harman Kardon Hi-Fi
Connected Services
Wireless mobile phone charging prep
Wireless Hotspot prep (part of Tech Pack)
M Aerodynamic bodystyling - part of the MSport trim
Exterior trim, High-gloss Shadowline
Headlining, Anthracite (MSport trim inclusive)
LED front fog lights
Trim & badges deletion
Automatic Air Conditioning
Extended Interior Lighting package (inc in MSport trim)
Extended Storage package (part of MSport trim)
18” Style 486 wheels with runflats tyres (no option on the MSport).

We decided not to bother with Apple Car Play prep as I have had it for 3 years and used it once!  Must be done at build though.  Concierge Services can be added at any time - had it on the X6 and never used it.

The Iconic LED lights are a choice within the pack and supposedly provide clever beam forming control and couple with the High Beam Assist to do some other clever stuff.  The angel eyes have the new BMW shape which is hexagonal rather than rounded.

Her Ladyship wanted the variable steering and heated wheel.

The fold down tables in the rear looked very flimsy and at £200 a pair, extremely expensive!

Hi you should ask about winter wheels as they usually do a good discount on them when ordering the car , I got 484 wheels will have to check , we got the rear tables stops the kids looking for somewhere to put the tablets , phones and drinks , they are flimsy but work !
We went for the blue stitching also which may look good on your blue car , pan roof is great kids love it .

I will ask.  There are a couple of options but tyres are limited with the 7-seater for some reason.

I might add the Travel/Comfort System as that gives options.  I took the equivalent out of the Škoda in case the headrest pillars are the same width (no holding much hope but nothing to lose).  :)

Just gone to status 5055 - Scheduled for production.

Should be built in Week 26 (25th June) and delivered 2-3 weeks later.  Not such a long wait now, and given all of the other ‘little challenges’ we have just had, we can’t wait  :)

Car built a week early and is somewhere between the factory and EU port of exit so we may get it in a couple of weekends time.  Already got the VIN and Reg, and the BMWVin decoder shows it already too.

Need to get the insurance and fiddly bits done, then pay for it  :(

Keeping the X6 and E46.  Might get the 640GC next time, although we very, very nearly bought one this time around.

We did leave a couple of choices off......Apple Car Play and Concierge Service  :P
