Oh FFS!!!
Went out this morning for a drive, picked up some bits for me tro, had a look at new tellys and even drove like a human. Got home lunchtime, everythings tickety boo.
Took the dog for a walk about an hour ago and on return find a pool of antifreeze running out from under the car and down the drain. When I say pool I mean F'in flood.
Popped the bonnet to find expansion tank empty and coolant all around the engine bay So with shagging lamp in hand (head torch) and better half holding the revs I've found the leak Its coming out from around the alternator... " Have you seen what you've got to remove to get at the bloody thing ? "
Why is it that everytime I've decided to sell a car I end up spending a fortune for the priviledge of seeing someone elses face smile.
I'll post pics of me setting fire to it

Re: Oh FFS!!!
Well good news and bad news....
Good news....It weren't the alternator seal.
Bad news......Having ordered the alternator seal and good lady to collect the X has just been brought home on a low loader.
Plastic manifold from water pump housing with 3 branches, 1 main to radiator, 1 smaller to somewhere and the 3rd little 1 to alternator.
Well yesterday it must of been a small hole in the direction of the alternator bolt.....This morning it went catastrophically bang and well the rest is history.
Any V8 owners check your hoses, the 1 to the alternator runs parallel to the fan and mine would appear to have been rubbing.
Pics os fubard hose to follow, but heres the before and during

Oh dear...........
If you've had antifreeze on the auxiliary drive belt you might be wise to replace it too. Some belts are damaged by contact with coolant.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

So i've got tomorrow off to fix her. And the damage.....? £13 for the alternator seal which I probably don't need, £37 for the Aux belt and wait for it....£64 for a hose

Besides having a full time job fixing the X5, do you have another part time job that earns you money?
