Post by Am89 » Sat Apr 14, 2018 4:49 pm

Hi all. I’ll the market for my first 4x4.. m50d and 2017 RR sport dynamic are both contenders..

Any VIN decoders on the forum to find out the spec of a potential X5?

Any desirable options on the X5?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Here's a link
https://www.bmwvin.com/

Preferable options I would say are adaptive dynamic suspension,  Comfort seats, led headlights, also some have active cruise control as well, but the list is lengthy.

Don't think you can retro fit stuff that easy on these as even worse than my E70 X5.

I would suggest you drive both the cars you have mentioned as it will depend on what sort of driving experience you want from the car.

Now: E70 X5 in Blue, 3 Minis Cooper S R53, JCW R56 & Cooper S Roadster R59 :drive:

Prev: Abarth 595C & 500C, E53 X5 4.4i, E88 135i M Sport, Audi TT Mk1 V6, 3 Smarts, 8 Vauxhalls, 4 Fords, 2 Triumphs, 1 Mini & Bikes

Hi, thanks for the replies.

Driven both,

RRS - looks better ( subjective ), more cool gadgets such as auto side steps, air suspension which raises and lowers by a button also gives a more comfy ride, Brembo calipers, more spacious.

Cons - poor headlight, uncomfy seats, slower than X5, infotanement seems dates compared to Bmw.

X5 - fast, handles well, cars is new with only a 1,000 miles, virtual cockpit and Infotanement display is crisp, also has Harmon / Kardon.

Cons - subjectively doesn’t look as good, harsher ride, worse MPG - Around 22/23 mpg in town

I’ll use the vin de coder this week but a few Q’s,

Are comfort seats basically electrically controlled or is there more?

Is dynamic susp air susp which is adaptive?

Are the LED’s the ones which adapt to certain light levels and change direction?
