Colour of your screen??
I have the comm's pack in my 2002 X5.
The screen (TV, telephone, on board computer etc) was blue. Today I set up my sat nav, in other words I realised my sat nav was not plugged in in the boot.
Now my screen is an orange.. ish colour. Actually suits the car at night as all the other instrument lights are orange.
Is this the normal colour? or what colour is yours??

Re: Colour of your screen??
You can switch between the two. I prefer orange for the reasons you state.

Re: Colour of your screen??
If you have changed the screen apearance yourself via the obc then thats fine but if it is changing colour by itself then you have a problem.
I have had a few issues with mine lately and it has even gone a brown colour which is the very early software that i had in my y reg x.
I have since changed the battery due to other issues and am hoping this will help with the problem.

Anyone got an update on this. Mine has been going dim and loosing hue for past two months but it came back to full colour on restart. Now it just stays dishwash colour. I am going to check out ribbon cable tomorrow as Sanj suggested.

Re: Colour of your screen??
I too have experienced the colour display problem………And recently as well……….There seems to be an awful lot of X5 drivers that experience this now and again…..Take a look on the Outpost site under the electronics / navigation system………There seems to be lots of varying views as well as what it can be………and solutions as well…………Pulling fuses, disconnecting the battery for 20 mins, cleaning connections……new screens etc.
It is a shame that nobody has actually pinned it down to what it can be.
For me I think that the X5 is a woss when it comes to the cold……….Whilst my car is covered from the elements it’s exposed to the prevailing outdoor temperature.
When I first got my car this problem happened all the time………..The BMW dealer said that it was the navigation computer so this was duly replaced……I never felt happy with their diagnosis……..But if that’s what their diagnostic system says it is then so be it……..
Well surprise surprise……This did not resolve the problem however after the battery was replaced the problem virtually disappeared…………The only time I experience this problem now is if its been cold outside and / or the car has not been used for a week or so…………Once it’s been driven for a few miles the screen is Ok. I’ve just leant to live with it now……….
Last summer I never experienced the problem at all………
As others have said I think that a healthy battery is essential in resolving a lot of X5 electrical glitches…..But as far as the colour display problem goes maybe a bit of condensation somewhere or maybe some electronic components whose tolerances don't comply with the prevailing weather conditions…….
Good luck and I hope you get it sorted……

Re: Colour of your screen??
I had the screen on my previous X5 (E53 - 2004 model) replaced in 2007. Dealer did it under warranty. Colour starting off ok but would then go a muddy colour after a few minutes. It would occasionally go back to the correct colour but not reliably. It was definitiely different to the alternative colour selectable on the OBC. It was fine after that, but screen replacement with a new one from the dealer is horrendously expensive unless under warranty. Of course it could have been a ribbon cable or something - all I can say is that it was fixed!

Hi Sanj
No worries. I know multiple threads means the forum police will be here soon ( you know I love you guys)
Anyways not sure if it was battery or cable but all I do know is I'm back to sky blue again even better than before.
Let's see but for now happy bunny
