HELP!!! Glow Plug Module Connectors

Is there a knack to unplugging the connectors from the glow plug module?  :'(

On the larger connector there seems to be release tabs but they are doing nothing and I cant see anything that would release on the smaller one?

I changed one on an e61 a while ago (same connectors, possibly the same controller too) and I vaguely remember the round plug just pulls out (needs some force to overcome the friction of the two small tabs) and the large plug needs the locking tabs to be held in as it's pulled out.

Are you doing this blind, or have you taken the manifold off to get better access?

My large plug was a mare to get out I had to spray WD between the plug and module, thought it would never come out, yet once out the new module plugged in with ease.
