Window trim wrapped

Post by poolie » Fri Apr 06, 2018 7:23 am

Hello,

So finally got the chrome window trim wrapped looks a lot better I think.

Now I'm not one for chrome, but I think the roof rails and grill suit the colour of the car? Now that window trims  are gloss black. Don't want overkill :)

Hi

I agree the window trim work well on the car and that doing the roof rails would just accentuate the rails as looking at the pic the chrome seems to blend them in more.

The front grills are always a personal choice and it may work better with black ones. You could try photoshopping them or finding pics of white X5 with the black grills to compare before buying a set.

Yes looks good with mineral white - I would leave the rails but the grill IMO needs to be black to give it a more aggressive look..
I did the same with my wife's MB pearlescent white leaving the chrome rails as they are - blends better.

Thanks for you're opinions guys..

Looks great as it is, and doesn’t need to look “aggressive’!  It’s not out there to be a threat, so why look that way?

I prefer the standard grille on the M50d, it and the door mirrors are differentiated from the other M sport models anyway. Just my opinion though

I think it depends on the paintwork colour.
Sometimes the contrast between the two can be too much and too distinctive. CB or black paintwork with black grills works for me.
But I see your point with the M50 trims.

I think the Mirror caps and little "matching"? bars over the vents, together with a black grille, chrome roof rails and white paint is at least one colour too many.

Not intending to cause offence, just my view.... I think the mirror caps and matching bars are where it all goes wrong. I would much prefer the mirror caps and bars to be in the paint colour. Then I think the grille could be silver or chrome to taste.

My car is carbon black with all the parts being standard colour for the M50d, and if I could change anything it would be those mirror caps and bars. The mirrors in particular just look wrong unless you have space grey when its close enough that it doesnt jump out at you.

For your grille question - which I appreciate I haven't really answered, I'd say there isn't much in it and as you have both you can chop and change :)

It'll be allright in the end. If it isn't allright it isn't the end

Hi

For me I prefer the black grills against the pearlescent white and they work but tend to agree about the mirrors caps also poss also being black, it may be worth photoshop some black mirrors on it to see how it looks.

Not sure about the bars in the lower vents but again by photoshopping them you can see the effect of the colour change.

Another off the wall thought is having the mirror caps and bars in the lower vents in the pearlescent white. For that I suggest getting would get a new set of  mirror caps and just paint the bars that way if you don't like it the caps can be swopped back.

Sorry it appears I am being fussy remember it's always your choice and you will instinctively know what works for you :)

Looks like your off the wall thought and mine are the same - have them in the car paint colour.
