Eurotunnel width

Post by RichM50d » Sat Mar 10, 2018 8:44 pm

As I’m planning on taking the car over to France in the Summer, and the Eurotunnel carriages are quite narrow (I use the tunnel regularly on my bike, and have seen lots of people trashing their wheels), are people generally using the HGV carriages in their X5’s?

Ive used both with no issues although I prefer the high vehicle, it does offer an element of breathing space.

Used the service last month with a ski box.
Had no issues with plenty of space on the double height carriages.
You will love driving the beast on the empty French motorways but just watch those hidden speed cameras as they are not coloured orange :'(
