HI - latest newbie

Post by alanva » Tue Feb 15, 2011 11:32 am

Recently moved to Camberley in Surrey. I have had my 06 X5 4.4i Sport for a while now - have been using the X5 outpost (US site) until I found this one. Car is Carbon Black metallic with black leather, light poplar wood trim. Pano roof, Comms Pack, factory-upgraded DSP stereo, Sport plus package (20" wheels, etc), auxiliary heater, privacy glass, chrome exhaust tips, etc. Only done 36k miles. Had no real problems except for the Intermediate Levers issue which causes rough idling when starting from (real) cold ; this does not seem to have affected that many UK cars as the V8-engined ones are not that common and we don't (normally!) get very cold winters like they do in N.America for example. The issue is quite prevalent out there and is expensive to fix as all (16) levers need replacing in the valvegear. Parts prices are not too horrendous but it is a long job.
I notice my front tyres (275-40x20 Michelin) are getting low - replacement Michelins seem to be £260 and up each!

Hi there alanva, and welcome to the forum.

Re front tyres, I have been quoted £225 fitted if you can get hold of them as it appears Michelin have them on back order themselves by several weeks.
Toyo proxys seem to be a good alternative, maybe you will consider them?

Great colour combo by the way.

Welcome aboard. Love the noise of a V8 at full yell, just hate the fuel bills that go with them. Nice car from the spec too.
:ant: Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
