Radio...again......

Post by chelsea » Tue Mar 06, 2018 5:40 pm

Just got a new to me 2009 xdrive, the radio was fine when I picked it up, it then started losing channels and loads of interference etc.
I have figured out that it is something to do with opening and closing the boot, if I open the boot when the stations are not working then 8 out of ten times they come back when I reopen and close the boot.........will investigate a the weekend !

The amp for the aerial/ diversity unit is in the tailgate, or is on the E53, so could well be on the E70  (back to back with the high level brakelight I think )
It could be loosing it power feed, or the coax cable.
Try loosening the flexi rubber conduit and check for breaks in cables etc.
If the wires flex every time the tailgate is opened it may have broken the wire inside the insulation.
