I need to remove the alternator on my X3 3.0 D M Sport to get at a silver-coloured box underneath it. The box has a pipe attached at each end but the front connection got damaged by the frost and needs replaced so the box has to come off. Has anyone details as to how to remove the alternator and what is the silver box, please?
