Diesel or Petrol X3 G01?

Post by sharpharp » Mon Feb 19, 2018 10:31 am

Hi all,

Interested in your thoughts...

I'm on the brink of deciding whether to keep my F25 X3 for another year or whether to part-ex for the newer G01 X3, one of my concerns is whether to stick with Diesel (reliable, more quieter in the G01, economical etc), but with all the stories circulating around Diesels becoming obsolete or values massively depreciated with governments levies on diesel, is it worth switching to a Petrol version?

I've spoken with BMW dealerships and they just laugh it off and say that's a long way off if it ever happens, but am I making a mistake in shelling out for a G01 X3 right now?

Thanks.

P.S. How anyone know if the Wheels from an F25 will fit on the G01, or are they different?

P.P.S Currently there are no dealership offers on the G01 X3, but wondering if anyone here has some connections or knowing of any groups doing discounts on the G01?

P.P.P.S Is it time we had a new G01 F25 section on the board?

Picked my G01 (Xline 20D) up on 14th February....really lovely to drive. The Euro 6 classification is only a smidge worse than petrol on NOX.  I'm of the opinion the whole electric scenario is going through a bout of "Marketing Fever" I do believe they will be the future but two things make my mind up instantly at the moment.  I do a lot of touring so the two influences for me are Infrastructure for Charging and Range.  The return of mpg diesel vs petrol for engines than are virtually as clean or dirty depending on which way you look at it leaves diesel a clear winner for me.  I can see in 2019 the electric /hybrid G01 selling well in in cities with levies but not if you really want to get out into the countryside reasonably often.  I too wonder when the G0 1 X3 will get its own section?

I'm not ready to jump ship from my X30d just yet. She is 3.5 years old and 27k, but i don't see the Euro6 diesels going anywhere.
The headlines say dirty diesel, and the smallprint reveals Euro 3,4 and (ULEZ in London 2019) euro5 .
The major diesel manufacturers (VW,Ford,GM,MB,Audi and BMW) are still selling plenty of dervs across Europe and Brexit Britain
What does make sense is anything under 1800cc going back to petrol or moving to hybrid/electric gradually.
