I would say so, be careful not to fill the oil level over 1/2 way on the dipstick, as you can get the overfill warning coming on if you max the level to the indicated level.
My old E93 never even had a dipstick

The good news I would say it it doesn't sound bottom end related, to me it sounds half engine speed so tappet or an injector

The I drive on this heap is telling me to put 1 litre of oil in immediately, the dipstick is saying it’s right on the max level........I know who the dipstick is!!! Me for buying this pile of scrap

I have the Carly system and NT Pro for BMW diagnostics. If anyone wants to use it just PM me. Spent over £200 for NT used once:
