New stereo problem

Post by Roryb1985 » Sat Feb 17, 2018 8:35 am

good day all hope someone here can help. I fitted a new touch screen stereo to my  2004 e53 x5 but the stereo won’t pick and radio stations up but the old one does and so does my after market stereo and the touch screen stereo picks up radio in my e39 so bit confused to why the new touch screen stereo will work in the e39 but not in the e53

When I fitted a Dynavin aftermarket unit in mine the radio reception was naff.
Mine was a non satnav factory car so all the wiring was up front already, so apart from having to cut out the dash internals a bit it was an easy fit.
If yours is a satnav factory car, have you run the extension cable from your head unit to the BM54 radio unit in the boot.
I was going to fit a separate aerial to mine to improve things but never for around to it.

Hi mate no my x5 is the non sat nav so all the wires are the same as my e39. The stock radio and a different aftermarket stereo works fine but when I fit the touch screen into the x5 nothing. Fit it to the e39 get radio no problem  :'(

It may be an idea to just buy a cheap car areal to try plugging into back of the headunit and hold aloft outside the X5 for test purposes.
The X5 runs a diversity unit for the aerial system and my not be compatable with your unit.
If the temporary areal works, maybe a sharkfin roof mount antenna maybe a best option
Is it Fakra or old style socket for the aerial ?
