Stick on flared arches

Post by Luigi_S » Sat Feb 03, 2018 9:41 pm

Hi everyone, looking for some opinions- my X5 has 20’s fitted and I would like to add the extended arches off the 4.8is- has anyone had any experience of the stick on type sold on eBay? Or should I just wait to find a proper set at an afordable price?

The OEM ones stick on as well.  If you look them up on Realoem there should be a reference to an EBA document.  That is the fitting guide.  Ask your local dealer for a copy of it.

Interesting, I assume then the 4.8l is different to the 4.6l my normal arches have elongated slots in them and the extended arches have tabs which fit through and are fitted with push on metal clips on the inside.

I have to say I thought just like the bumper valances that they had plastic tabs that pushed through the bodywork and were clamped by the clips. I don't particularly like the extended arches but I did want the iS valances. What a pain in the bum they were to remove from the bumpers, paint and bond. Good old Tiger Seal

So can I not just buy the arches off a 4.8is with new clips and replace my normal arches on mine?

I believe you can remove yours and fit the larger 4.6/4.8 versions. Don't forget you'll need the wider rear bumper flares as well and you might need to fit the wider running board covers or the wider non running board covers too. I think BMW still sell them as a kit but it's not cheap and I could have sworn there was a thread on here with all the part numbers
