Roadrash, and chipping of rear arches

Post by SimonH » Sun Feb 04, 2018 8:47 pm

    Hi Chaps,
Just wondered if anyone has done anything about this problem ?. This week ive fitted M Performance sill foils, to the lower sills, and en devoured to fit PPF to the bottom of all doors, with varying degrees of success. Also fitted the PPF to one of the rear arches, with not much success at all, but i think ive used the wrong technique here, and will aim to get this sorted this week when i can. I also now have, front and rear mudflaps fitted too. Has anyone else had this, noticed this, or done anything about it?. My car is Carbon Black, which does show this up more to some extent, and my last X5 was White, which didnt show as much.

I had the same issue om my 2015 X6M, due to the 21 inch wheels throwing up stones both my rear doors needed painting after only 8000 miles. I dident make the same mistake on my new car. I bought some after market mudflaps and fitted them the day after delivery , problem solved. Seven thousand miles now and all good. Mudflaps although unsightly definitely make the difference especially with 21 inch wheels.

This is why I did not order the bigger wheels but went with the 20" standard M wheels. I hope the chipping will be mostly avoided (my E70 with 19" did not chip at all).

I’ve just washed my car today and noticed this after only 1800 miles. To say I’m not happy would be an understatement.  Did you get anywhere with your issues?
