Go to Units, then distance and finally scroll between km & m and hit enter.

I think it’s in ‘Settings’ or under the ‘Menu’ or similar option on the head unit (if you have Nav).  I sold mine a while back and am trying to remember what the pre iDrive system worked like.

Have you changed anything else, like the language or fuel units?  That might force metric instead of imperial?

Think you also have to ensure/set MPG as well

Then one must assume there is some other problem, check all the connections to the HU and in the boot area,

Had this same problem yesterday!

Hold down left button by the speedo,
Turn key 1 click forward,
Turn key back to off position,
Let go of button.

Turn ignition on and should have changed outside temp and climate as mine did!

You were probably thinking of the navigation side - I always had mine on Km for navigation purposes as "turn right in 900 yards" meant nothing to me, whilst the metric version is fine for me  8)
