XXX Sat Nav Screen lines going through it XXX

Hi,

I changed my radio module and tv module on my 2003 x5 with standard ones as mine were water damaged and now there is lines going up through the screen just wondering does anyone know what this is or how can i get rid of the lines :headbang:

Probably not usefull but your description of lines going through the screen would suggest that one or more connections are not connected correctly, bit like when a scart lead on a TV partly comes out and you end up with a picture but no sound. Have you tried twisting the connectors to see if the lines go away, if they do you would know that it was a bad connection? Have you cleaned all the contacts and connections? I am probably saying what you have already tried.

The modules you took out, did they not work at all?

There's a ribbon cable in the unit that may need the pins cleaning. Get the unit to slide downwards and then look underneath - you'll see it.

Means taking the unit out, taking the top off and unclipping the cable, wipe, reverse...

No the old ones did not work at all. i have checked all connections over and over again

I did not try this yet but i will try and see what happens fingers crossed

i took the radio cleaned the ribbon cables but still the same when i pluged it back in i put the blue plug in first and the screen lit up a dark colour with no lines then i plugged in the white plug and the lines were running through it again it like looking through a camera at a television.
