So, after a new addition to the family I’m going to look at an E70 X5 tomorrow to swap my M140i for. We definitely need the extra space!
The car is a 2013 SE with a really nice list of extras. I’ve got a couple of questions to see what each one allows compared to my current BMW.
1. Voice Control - will this be as good as the latest iDrive version? I can simply say to mine to navigate to the nearest Costa Coffee for example and a full list of Costa’s show on the screen - will the E70 do the same level of voice control?
2. Enhances Bluetooth Phone Functionality - what does this allow over and above standard Bluetooth connection?
3. BMW assist online portal - no idea what this is?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

The iDrive is not the same as the latest one, it is CIC instead of CCC, which is good, but not the latest App-type version. I can get to lists of McD’s etc via the iDrive Connected Drive menu, never tried with the Voice Control.
BMW Assist is the BMW emergency direct connection- available via iDrive and an emergency switch in roof panel.
The E70 has a subscription based internet /services setup. The enhanced Bluetooth allows streaming via BT and if you have BMW Apps will allow streaming via Spotify / Amazon Music / Internet radio, using your smartphone data connection.

Voice control on my 2013 X5 only works well when stating a phone number, does not work for satnav, voice control on my M4 does everything

Hi
When looking at the SE tomorrow make sure it has all the options you. Want as retro fitting on the E70 or later is a lot more difficult requiring modules and coding. For example someone on. Here wanted heated rear seats and was quoted over 2k for them to be retro fitted.
The SE should have more equipment as standard over the MSport version, but will have unpainted arches but will have the running boards. The SE may have 19" instead of 20" which should give a smoother ride.

Ended up driving it home and am now the proud owner of an E70
Loads of optional extras and really really nice condition.
Just need to find a few days to polish and protect all the surfaces now.
