F15 M Sport Mud Flaps

Post by ASL1956 » Tue Jan 16, 2018 2:53 pm

Hello all, I'm new here having only picked up my 2017 F15 30d M Sport last Friday.  I had hoped to fit mud flaps as I tow a caravan (towbar yet to be fitted but I've already picked up the comments on the fridge wiring) but was disappointed to be told by the BMW dealer that mud flaps are not available for the M Sport.  I can't believe that!  Does anyone know if you can modify the standard flaps to fit over the M styling pack or am I forever going to get muck up my back!!

MSport mudflaps have been an issue for years, with none being offered by BMW.  Not sure why there is an issue with that trim though.

TBH they won’t make a significant difference anyway as the tyres are so large they still throw plenty of crud about.

It is a mystery.  I have written to BMW customer services for their views on it.  The salesman said that he had heard of people fitting the standard flaps to M Sports and shaping them with a knife to follow the profiles although he hadn't actually seen any fitted.  That's why I thought I'd ask the question in case someone had.  I wanted to fit them also to stop chips on the underside if the body immediately behind the wheels.  I did wonder if I put some paint protection film (clear vinyl wrap) along the bottom as additional protection. I've seen it put on the front of cars to prevent stone chips so might work.  You're right though, the tyres are a bit OTT.

Bought the stock set off BMW direct and just fitted the front ones, perfect!  Will fit the rear after my towbar is fitted this weekend.  It seems BMW dealers don't know what will or won't fit

Keeps the crud off the side of the car and the black on white looks ok to me.

You can't really tell how it looks from the picture, but in any event, its how it looks to the owner that matters.

Hi Mate,
First post on the forum. The dealers do state that the rear flaps dont fit, but i have seen with my own eyes that they do fit. Also read threads that say they do fit. Ive bought some this week, and will be fitting when i can, will report back with how i get on  :)

Lovely Aby,

  Just an update,
Fitted my rear flaps today, and after they are fitted, there is a very slight gap, at the very bottom of the rear bunper, where it curves round, i would say 5mm at the most. Ive decided to fill that gap with a black silicone, and it will be perfect. You do need to remove the rear wheels to get them on, and i did use a couple of my own fixings, but they are well on there, and are not coming of, unless i want them off. Will have to get some photos up. All in all im pleased with them, i thought they wouldnt fit as well as they do, after all the negative comments from a few dealers, what do they know ?, pah !!  :):)
