Wheel Bearing
Wheel Bearing
As I said, on to the next problem. Sounds like a wheel bearing but could be front diff or transfer case. No leaks from diff or transfer case, no sign or feel of overheating or play from hub area. No slackness or movement in drive shafts or prop. Am I being overly gloomy and it's just a wheel bearing. Problem is that from the drivers seat all of those things are sort of forward left. Any Ideas as to how to pinpoint.

Re: Wheel Bearing
Kkx5 might be able to pint you in the right direction with diff/tfr case issues. Might be as simple as pulling a fuse for a few moments but I can’t remember which.

Mine is old school, no electronics I believe.

Re: Wheel Bearing
To finish this thread off, having bet myself a months wages it was the l/h wheel bearing, I changed it and the noise was still there. Changed the r/h one today and all is quiet, however my steering wheel is now very slightly off center??. I have a brilliant local Indie who allows me to make use of his equipment ie press. Not sure if one is allowed to mention their name. If I am I will edit this post. Just to add, there was no play in the bearing, no noise that I could hear once hub was removed, yet the noise when driving was horrendous.

Re: Wheel Bearing
Glad you sorted it, stuff like that annoys the hell out of me, you can never be sure where feedback is coming from.
