Which Running Boards/Side Steps?

Post by simonfr » Sat Dec 23, 2017 11:46 pm

Evening

Keen to get a set of running boards so that I can get up to clean the roof and load the roof box more easily. Anyone have these fitted, and if so, which Ines did you go for? Finally, are they easy to fit and can you stand on them?

Thanks, Simon

Hi I've done this upgrade I sourced the running boards of e bay and got the rivets also from there.
It's pretty easy really.

Not an OEM product but multifunctional that doubles as a roof cleaner very well

Folding step from Amazon that stays in the X3. Ideal for cleaning roof, and mounting roof bars and bikes. Being collapsible means it takes up no room. Personally don’t think running boards will look right on a F25

Thanks for the input. Not keen on steps as the boot is rammed every other weekend and just don't have the space for them.

@Reusch : do you have any pics, and a link to the boards/rivers you purchased?

Never seen a pic of an F25 with running boards.

A google search of “F25 side steps” will show many images
Not sure how much I’d trust for stepping up for roof washing though, the fixings looks weak!
Almost for asthetics over function

Which Running Boards/Side Steps?

Everyday is a school day, never seen that before :-)

One of the sites mentions this ...

BRAND NEW SIDE STEPS SUITABLE FOR:
BMW X3 F25
2010>on
They fit all models of the F25 except the M-Sport models which would require you to cut the rear arch to fit.

These O.E STYLE side steps not only offer the PERFECT FINISHING touch to your vehicle, BUT with a AUTOMOTIVE GRADE NON-SLIP SURFACE offers a PRACTICAL SOLUTION to accessing both your roof rails and ENTRY to your vehicle. No drilling is required as it SEAMLESSLY fits using EXISTING HOLES and mounting points on the chassis.

These are NOT cheap SIDE STEPS, contructed from only the FINEST MATERIALS they are built to LAST! We are so CONFIDENT they will last,

I have googled and seen many pictures of them fitted. However, I was hoping to get first hand experience and perhaps even a recommendation from someone here. There aren't many reviews for aftermarket versions so feel like I'd be buying blind.

Maybe try the x3 bimmer forum based in America. Never seen a UK owner with these .
