Well, after 20 years of BMW ownership, I've gone over to the dark side and bought a Merc ! I work for a Merc dealership and whilst I'm not overly keen on their offerings generally, I particularly like the CLS Shooting Brake.
One of the few perks is seeing the odd car pop up and being able to buy at trade or less and this is what happened and I bought a CLS 250 AMG Sport, in a deal I couldn't really turn down.
My E70 35d which has sports suspension has been annoying me of late with its' jiggly ride and relatively noisy cabin. I had changed from 20s to 19s and whilst it helped a little, driving the CLS which wafts along in a hushed way was a revelation. Performance isn't as good as the X, but overall comfort is a big step up.
It seemed strange saying goodbye to my X after 3 1/2 years and to BMW after 20. I will probably be back at some stage.
As a result, I have a genuine E70 dog guard and spacesaver kit in its own carry bag for sale. I'll post them up on the for sale section.
I'll no doubt still check in here if you allow Merc owners
Andy.

Gone to the dark side.....
Re: Gone to the dark side.....
I drive a Škoda every day and I’m still allowed on here, so you should have no issues
Good luck with the Merc, I am already looking at a full BMW return as the G01 X3 looks like a possibility (or an X1) for replacing the Superb. I just cannot get on with the dreadful DSG box, and poor Škoda Dealer support.

Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.

Hi
Congrats on your new car even if it's a Merc, instead of a BMW, but as you say it was a deal you couldn't turn down.
I know what that's like when I bought the second Fiat Abarth and so sold the wife's car and gave her my old Abarth, which she loves.
Good luck with it and keep us posted on you progress with it.

Yeah, you’ll be back. I deviated for a year, but have seen the light! In fact, every time I saw an X5, used to get a bit angry deep inside. Order has now been restored!
Re: Gone to the dark side.....
1500 miles in the 3 weeks I've had it - I'm really liking not visiting the pumps so often, still like driving it, I may well be back, but not for a while yet
Re: Gone to the dark side.....
The CLS shooting brake is Merc’s best model of late. I would definitely swap my 5GT for one.
