Key fob will open car and disarm alarm, but wont lock it ?

I am having an issue with my key fob. I can obviously lock the car with the key in the lock, but I cannot lock the doors or set the alarm with the fob anymore ?


I can unlock the doors and disarm the alarm though so I don't think it is a battery/charge issue

Any ideas people ?

I know you say you don't THINK it's a charge issue but you need to be 100% sure otherwise you will chase faults until you disappear up your own backside. Charge the battery and see how you go.

Both of my diamond keys have had problems since I've had the X3, I've sent them off individually to a guy off EBay and they replace the micro switches and battery in the fob £20 per key if I remember correctly.
They fix the same day as they receive the key, then post it back.

Have you tried re-initialising the key/keys?
When I bought mine I was told the keys didn’t work properly, I just re-initialised them both and hey presto 2 working key fobs, might be worth a go.
Can’t quite remember off the top of my head but if you google it you’ll find the procedure, it’s just a case of popping the kit in the ignition and removing it and pressing the buttons in the right order - nothing complicated as such

This is the guide I used, where it says KL-R it just means position 1 on the ignition

The car could have gone into transport mode. One of ours did it twice. If memory serves the interior light doesn't work either and that is a sign. Needs diagnostics to change setting.

My e46 went into transport mode and the wipers and windows didn't work not sure about the locking.
