New 2018 X3... Whatcha think?

Post by sharpharp » Thu Jun 29, 2017 4:55 pm

The successor to the F25 X3 has been unveiled.... what you guys think?

http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/bmw- ... rmance-suv

Without looking in depth, initial thoughts:

Pros - bigger, lighter and hopefully some petrol engines in the UK and a Hybrid that looks tasty
Cons - The shape is a show stopper for me, those frumpy looking lights make it so ugly. Maybe the M-Sport trim helps, but that remains to be seen. The Merc equivalent looks way way better.

Thoughts? Anyone actually like the new look lights? They just don't look good at all.

They need to use cooler water next time they wash an F15.

Looks OK though - apart from that tan leather with Estoril Blue  :(

Tan leather is ok if u happen to $*** yourself while driving.
The problem with Cream leather is that it likes to turn itself Denim blue on a regular basis

So the F25 is bigger than the E83, and the new X3 is. Bigger than the F25. The F15 looks smaller than the E70.

Hi

It does look like a slightly smaller version of the latest F15 X5 to me, plus it takes a few styling cues from the X5 with the wing vents and overall I quite like.

When looking at the centre dash it looked like the usual BMW combination of the e70 and f15 and a 1 series dash

I like the idea of the performance figures of the m40i but how many will actually buy that model I suspect very few, if it's like the number petrol X5's around, but it would bring a smile to your face.

I like it, and will definitely consider it this time next year, although probably only if they expand the engine option and offer a 35d/40d  >:D I'd stick with the standard black leather as well  :P

When I'm in the mood for a relaxed drive I like our E70 X5 and peering over most of the traffic, but most of the time I prefer the pace and handling of my F32 335d. Hopefully the new X3 will be a nice compromise between the two, and still be big enough for tow duties if the wife follows through on her threats and swaps the X5 for a people carrier  :'(

I think it looks better inside (massively) and outside.

Having an X3M variant too is brilliant.

Not a big enough change to shape or engines for me to be tempted out of the X30d F25. If they had done a few petrol engines then I may have taken a closer look

Having seen it in the flesh, I actually like it and the G01 has joined the (now three) choices for the Škoda replacement (the others being the 2-series Active Tourer or an X1].  It is almost as big as my old E53, though the options range isn’t as good.  I wish they would bring Comfort Seats further down the model range  :cry1:

I've yet to see the new x3 in the flesh, will make a trip to dealer and see if I can borrow one for the weekend when I get round to it.

Any other observations X5? Any deals on for it?

I didn’t get that far and haven’t had a chance to go back and talk money matters etc.
