Hello from the Caribbean

Post by macbaileyjr » Thu Dec 07, 2017 2:35 pm

Hi all, bought an x5 a couple months ago and so far have had my ups n downs but I have fallen in love with the X and I am looking to expand my knowledge on things I can do for myself and troubleshoot problems.
one thing I have noticed is I cant see pics on the forum, is it a problem on my side?

When you say they don't stay closed, is it that they close and then fold back out again on their own,
If so do a search for microswitches on the forum, as this has been covered before.
Or is the motor making a noise but failing to close one mirror?
Mine has started to play up on the drivers side. The mirror wouldn't fold properly and it wouldn't lock manually into its normal out position.
Eventually by keeping the button pressed something moved and it now locks in the out position ok
I ha e un coded the mirrors, so they don't auto close on the key fob
I was worried something would break and leave me with a big repair bill if it was folding the mirrors every time.

Hi and welcome to the forum

You X5 looks pretty tidy.

Re the bm54 unit
As the screen is just a display it's worth checking the connection there from the rear first. Then check. those in the rear near side boot panel where the main unit is located just in case something has worked loose or a connection got knocked, or poss water is in there.

Also it's worth checking the fuses in front and rear just in case one has blown as that could be a quick and easy fix.

However from doing a quick search these seem to suffer from this prob with the amp failing, it depends how good you are with repairs, or finding someone local who can repair it, or it may be easier to get a working second hand unit or go for an upgrade?

Do a quick search and have a read, there is a chap over here who does repairs to them and upgrades the unit as welll but the postage cost could be too much to send over and back.

Thanks, i will do those checks and see if it's ok but i think the unit is gone cuz it used to play really low with a cracking.
