Le Mans Sport edition - accept p/x or sell?

Post by Osprey » Sun Dec 03, 2017 3:28 pm

Time has come to reduce the fleet and we are putting in our E53 Le Mans for a F25 X3. Our dealer said we should give it a go privately.
Its got 127500 ,miles, cream leather, TV, BM servicing (it was an AUC 3 years ago), Westphalia detachable bar, winter wheels & tyres etc. etc....
Should I advertise or accept their £4150 (without the winter wheels and tyres). Conscious that people see these as expensive cars, especially Road Tax and fuel so p/ex may be only option these days  :(
Any thoughts from this knowledgeable forum very much welcome.

That's not a bad PX from a dealer. I doubt you'd get much more selling privately, and believe me when I last put a car on auto trader,  most enquiries were chancers and time wasters.
They want to test drive without any insurance, and if they have an accident during the test drive you will be liable too.

Be good to see a lot more detail - age, Mot duration/advisories, petrol/diesel, auto/manual, work done over and above servicing, to name but a few, etc etc etc

I agree with the chancers and time wasters. comment!! Always nervous about that and having an accident is worse nightmare. I didn't put too much detail in as I didn't want it to look like an advert  ;)
It's Le Mans blue, caramel kind of colour leather, has the Bluetooth/TV/CD auto-changer package, automatic, Westphalia detachable tow bar, winter (going for sale on XDrivers when I get them off)and summer wheels sets, 7mm all round and 4mm all round respectively, MOT until end of May 2018 (no advisories), last serviced by BMW (Four lights on), generally lovely condition.
Known niggles - the n/s mirror doesn't auto fold sometimes, there's a crane fly in the n/s headlight housing (dead) and a minor scratch on the drivers door (like a light keying).
All in all, a lovely car and the dealer was impressed....... Now I've read about the chancers and time wasters, p/x it is!!!

Hi

Depending on your timescale it may be worth putting a post on here for sale, but if your timescale is a week then it's hard, unless you can cover the difference in the monies on buying the new car and afford to keep the 3rd for the short term.

When I bought my E70 I had a price from the dealer and found another dealer prepared to pay more which helped, and avoided the private sale route as a lot of people don't have the cash nowadays, so for me it was the best route esp as I don't have the space for that many cars.

However, others have sold privately and you see the ads on auto Trader, pistonheads and ebay etc and some of the cars are very poor quality, where as ads on cars from forum members can be better as they are enthusiasts, but it can take time to sell.

I agree - put it on here, with pics, if you can afford the time/money to bridge the cash. Unlikelless likely to get a timewaster on here

The details are in the sig.  It’s a 3.0d, 2006 (so a run out model).
