Duck noise in engine bay. Bmw X5 E70 3.0d 2009

Post by Stuboy » Fri Nov 24, 2017 7:23 pm

Hello all.
Great site guys well done!
I have a problem which i hope somebody might be able to help me with?

I’ve attached a short video of my 2009 3.0d X5.

It seems I have a duck living under my bonnet or at least it sounds like in do.

There are no fault codes stored.

BMW have said it is the swirl flaps solenoid and under warranty have replaced the solenoid and whole inlet manifold. Which didn’t cost me a penny.

The noise is still here.

I’m aiming towards egr solenoid myself but BMW are at a loss.

Anybody any ideas or can be of help to me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I'm certain it is the EGR pressure converter at fault.
Seen this loads of times.

Can I ask what is the pressure converter?
Is that the solenoid?

Not sure of the part number but if you put the last 7 of your vin number in this site you will find the number to every part of your car.

Defo egr pressure converter at fault

Had exactly same sound on my 335d
Replacing pressure converter did a trick

Good luck
