Service Question
hi everyone, i'm looking at a f15 40d m sport, it has the 5 year service inclusive pack and a full bmw service history but the first service was done at 27910 miles on the 10/3/16 then a second service at 37513 on the 6/7/16. That seems like a long time before a 1st service, its a 64plate and currently on 43000 so has a bit of the service pack left. is it an issue not being serviced until 27k?
Re: Service Question
first service on the Diesel engined BMs usually comes in at around 18k miles give or take. I'd check with BMW to make sure it doesn't impact

Re: Service Question
Possibly overlooked and not updated, dealers are notorious for these mishaps, the service log should be on the idrive
A dealer should be able to read the key and inform you of work carried out, though believe there is a charge for print out
Ordinarily, these have an extended service interval circa 18000 miles and the CBS inform of requirements, if the car used for long distances, it’s possible the mileage range was extended.
Dealers will reluctantly service outwith the CBS though it’s a hard discussion, moreso if on service pack, whilst a paying customer can have their oil change weekly if so desired!

Re: Service Question
i bought an F15 6 weeks ago and i had i similar problem. Mine showed oil service at 19000 and next one due at 57000 ?? phoned bmw they confirmed it had an oil service at a bmw garage and gave me contact details. I rang them and they confirmed it did have oil service at 38000. It can not be updated once its missed off but they sent it out on paper. A bit miffed about it TBH

Re: Service Question
Shame we don't have the old service books in new cars - would avoid all this confusion and uncertainty.
I was surprised to receive just the instruction manual, no service log book or dealership first inspection record prior to picking up the new car. I assume this is the normal cost saving initiatives they all do now days.

This is very poor form - dealers missing service records on the iDrive when completing the service; it's a line on the checklist and something they are doing all day long. If they can't be trusted to do this part, how sure can we be they are actually completing the service properly?
However, it very much CAN be added back on later. I've had this done a couple of times on previous cars. Plus, my M3 is missing it's run-in service on the iDrive - I've checked and it HAD been completed but not put on the iDrive. The dealer has confirmed I can bring the car in and thy'll add it - he said it's a bit of a faff as they have to create the job manually but in fairness he also said that's not my problem and they'll of course do it for me.

very interesting as the garage who did the service told me they couldn't and so did stratstones who sold me the car... but as you put it as a bit of a "faff" perhaps they just telling me this to get out of it. I agree it should be put on the i-drive as its part of the service you pay for.! I kind of got the feeling they thought im being a pain or mardy as its on there systems and i have it now on paper but what annoys me is that if you tried to sell the car private, it looks very poor and i would be put off buying one private like this tbh
Suppose the lessons we need to learn from this is, check the i drive before you leave the dealership after any kind of service.
