Keyfob Battery Issues

So a couple of weeks ago my keyfob stopped responding. I used the key to manually open the door then it started from the inside.
It seemed to lock from the remote after I drove the car. I bought a couple of batteries from Maplin that very day (2-4-1) and changed it.

It works faultlessly every time but every time I get a yellow warning "Remote control - replace battery"
I tried the other of the 2 batteries to see if there was a problem but that didn't solve it.
I didn't get this warning when the old one stopped working  :-[

Is this some kind of BMW error that needs to be cleared after changing a battery?

Completely died yesterday.
This time I bought a new battery from BMW not Maplins. Error cleared and working fine.
Buy cheap, buy twice. Always. Never learn.
