Only concern I have is that the headrests have an actual purpose in accidents, believe they move about or something which prevents whiplash if you were in an accident. There are cars without these, but the headrests are part of the supplemental restraint system, which is only for safety in accidents after all.

It's all up to you in the end, but there are other options e.g. BMW official, which has to comply with the seat regulations as they are OEM.

Also, the metal poles on my headrests are a little thin therefore do not sit snug in the holes as the OEM headrests. Did you have this issue and if so what did you do to resolve?

Ive fitted the resistors but the light is still on, I then unhooked the battery but then they remained still on.
I have since heard that the light needs a reset at a local garage with a code reader and following that (with the resistors now in place) it should stay off!

My headrests came with 'sleeeves' to make them a closer fit to the OEM hole

All airbag warning light triggers will need to be reset via a diognostics device. Some lower end diognostics equipment won't do this, as I found out when I bought one after triggering an airbag fault by turning the ignition back on when fitting my Aftermarket headunit in the Golf and forgetting to plug the passenger airbag warning light warning display back in, the local VW indie charged me a tenner.
The only problem getting a garage to do it is they may not be happy that you've bypassed a safety device.

It's going into my local garage on Friday for the light reset - I'll update on whether or not it works and how long it stays off for! Hopefully permanently...

My original fix with the cheap 2.2ohm resistors worked for about a month until one of them came loose and the light re-appeared.

I have since found a plug in solution to this for under a tenner: eBay item number:251653436475

These resistors come with 2 x pins which effectively plug directly into the original headrest wiring and allow the restraint system light to be permanently removed (via a diagnostic machine).

Hopefully this helps as I mentioned earlier, the lack of a "how to" on this made it quite tricky
