Question about Latest USB + AUX for OEM Nav

Post by extremezmachine » Fri Oct 27, 2017 3:14 pm

Saw this at eBay and currently chatting with seller about the how legit this is to plug and play for our e53... I keep asking about the green connector that is equipped together in the eBay sale, as to where it will be plug to in our OEM Nav system.... but the seller assured me that it will at the back and both Aux and USB will work...

So now checking if anyone here have successfully retrofit this?

I think this needs the E70 version rather than the E53.  The connectors look like the later ‘MOST’ bus equipped cars but I’m happy to be corrected.

It looks like there is two connectors/ cables to fit to the back of the sat nav unit. There is only one cable at the back of the sat nav unit what is part of the wiring loom for aux input on the X5 (E53) so not sure where the other cable for the usb connects too.

I think the only way of having a usb connector is to have your tv tuner modified, if you have the tv option, Ive seen people out there who can convert analogue tv tuners to digital & add a usb on to the tv tuner.

For the X5, only the E70 and beyond have the relevant connectors and need a USB hub included in the vehicle.  Without it this product is no good.  I have these connectors on my Combox equipped X6 (E71) and that device appeared only in 2010 - though an earlier version was available with cars from 2007 onwards......which is outside the E53 range.
