Anyone done this folks with factory stereo.only thing on youtube i can find is in foreign.

Yes -

It's about a tenner for the genuine BMW aux lead.  Pop the head unit out, unwind a little of the loom behind the stereo, you'll find the connector for it about 6 inches back along the loom - plug it in, route it down to wherever you want (Mine's in the ashtray) and thats it job done - the head unit detects it and gives you an 'AUX' option to listen to.

Only small issue - if you're using a mobile, you probably can't charge it at the same time as listen, it seems to cause an earth loop and the aux input disconnects.  If you're not charging then it's brilliant.

What year is your x5, The cable behind the head unit is only there on year 2002 onwards I believe.

[/quote]mine is 2004 bud.also mine hasent got the tv fitted,dont know if it makes a difference.

Have you got the sat nav screen, If so then you will be ok, If you haven't then I'm not sure, But just see if there is a cable behind the head unit what isn't connect to anything. It doesn't matter that you haven't got the tv.
