Still cheaper than even a diy rebuild on a 4.6.

Sorry to hear of this.

Had considered well maintained 3.2 manual Cayenne models myself.

Was mindful of coolant pipes & prop shaft issues....was not aware chains were a weak point.

Well worth shopping around for prices on this work being done properly....even maybe factoring  cost to trailer it for a competitive labour price.

If you get it in for 1.5k then it's £750 when claim limit factored....£75 per month spread over 10 months.

Without wishing to appear sexist - that's my Man Maths ;)

It's gone to a Porsche specialist as the rac approved garages wouldn't touch it due to them not having the correct software to diagnose it correctly

Well good luck.....perhaps it might help if they also find an issue with the tensioner  ;) Like you, I  wouldn't be expecting them to cough up anytime soon.

I narrowly missed out on a Cayenne 3.2 last year....Manual box, recent clutch & flywheel, air suspension option NOT ticked, new cardan shaft & coolant pipes. PCM, black and black with turbo rims & service history. Called seller but it had just sold.

Right gents a little advice is sort as you no I took the cayenne in and was told £1700 to sort so I ok it.
Then had a call saying there was a rattle when they re installed engine so had to take it out again and fix and I would only have to pay for parts £600
