Sadly, on the e53 you will require a dealer to code your car for auto locking to activate on drive off. Some indi's will have said equipment to do so and won't cost the earth to do so. The only issue on the e53 with this function is that the car won't open the the locks when you stop so you will have to push the C/L button on the dash or pull the door leaver twice. This feature was std on later facelift e53's

This is true, but only on newer BMW's eqipped with iDrive systems

I was thinking about what you said Jalf and I think you may be right re: the OBC function but it is still only on the newer models. i.e. e9X 3er, e8X 1er but not the e53. Sure I did this on Mrs Chompers 1er. Sorry for the confusion.
