Sorry if this has been covered, but I have used the search and couldn't find the answer.
After going round the houses looking at cars I looked at a very nice X5 x30d M Sport yesterday. Running costs will be higher that other cars that I've been looking at so I need to factor this into the equation. The car has 18months of the original manufacturers warranty on, after which I would want to extend the warranty.
I know warranties vary from car to car, but what sort of ball park figure would I be looking for a 12 month BMW comprehensive warranty? The car currently has 19k on the clock, and I will only be doing 9000 miles/year.
Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Another warranty query
Based on mine, somewhere around £1,000 a year depending upon how much excess you carry. A zero excess warranty could add another £500 per year.
If you pay for it on a monthly basis then the price only changes if insurance tax changes.

Thanks for this. That's what I thought it would be, well £800-1000, so not a huge shock. How much is the excess to get the cheapest rate?
On a side note I'm dead chuffed to say I put a deposit on the 65 plate (Feb 06) X30d m sport I mentioned

£750 or higher. About 3 1/2 hours of labour charges!

[/quote]Crikey, that's a lot. I guess it's a case of balancing risk against how much you're willing to pay. I'm sure it doesn't take much for bills to go above £750.

Re: Another warranty query
Gearbox? That'll be £7k fitted sir. And yes that was the real figure for my E53 because BMW don't repair, only replace. I dread to think what an 8-sp unit is, or a CIC system, or (on the X6) the clever torque-distribution rear axle system.
