Any ideas on Rail Pressure Sensor code and stalling symptoms?

Hi All,

Sorry to post with another problem on here... My X5 (3ltr M57) seems to be trying to stall (revs hunting) intermittently when stopped at traffic lights. Carly says 003F40 Rail pressure sensor offset-test.

Tried to google it without much luck.... checked the fuel rail pressure sensor plug and it seems to be fine.

Any ideas on this one? Could it be fuel filter (I haven't changed this in my ownership of 1 year) or fuel pump issues?

I would change the fuel filter as it's not a lot of money and a new one will last a long time even if it doesn't fix your problem.
