£245 a tyre sounds great. Last time I bought tyres was for my E70 and they were more than that.

My last f15 went 3.5 years on the initial set (16,200 miles). I need to get out more!

Update: I had to get a new tyre due to slow puncture today and it cost me £274 from Kwik Fit.

Also at the weekend i got a stone thrown up on the motorway and now need a new windscreen. :(

Not your week.  Check with BMW about the screen.  With mine they stated that if it wasn't a BMW screen and fitted exactly as per their tech instructions then the warranty for the screen, paint and any part inside the car that might be affected would no longer be warrantied!  I had BMW change the screen and my insurer paid....£700 each time.  It happened twice.

Checked with dealer by email. They suggest I call Autoglass lol.

New windscreen being replaced by Autoglass via my insurer. Cost to me (including £100 excess) £355  :bangin:

They don't miss you and hit the wall. Apparently the additional £255 is due to the "Advanced Driver Assistance Systems" fitted in my car that need to be recalibrated after they've fitted the new screen.

I had a genuine screen fitted by Autoglass (or similar) - no issues.

Not sure what exactly they are charging you to recalibrate  O:-) - I checked this when mine was done - all hardware is mounted to the car with only anti-fogging element on the screen (1 connector). Can't see how anything needs to be calibrated.

Thanks!
They said it was the camera for the lane departure warning and collision warning features....

Will have a closer look at the windscreen tonight!

I guess our cars are very similar (even in colour) - my LDWS etc. works fine post windscreen fit so well worth quizzing them...

So, their story is that "ADAS" is a relatively new issue in the world of windscreen replacement. The alignment of the camera in the assembly that sticks on the screen (above where it says "connected drive" on the screen) needs to be checked once the screen has been replaced. 6 Months ago insurers hadn't heard about this but when they started getting charged by Autoglass they have now got more interested and in most cases pass the charge on to the policyholder.

Apparently some makes of car requires re-calibration with a board (x marks the spot) to ensure that the camera is lined up correctly and in those cases - Mercedes - it can't be done under the "mobile" service. They can change the windscreen at your house but the car needs to go to dealer or Autoglass premises to have the calibration done. This development has caught out Autoglass, who have changed their business model significantly in recent times by closing most of their windscreen repair premises to focus on "mobile". They are now looking to re-open / open some smaller units because of this.

Anyway, BMW can be recalibrated by a road test so can be done "mobile".

Fitter was finished PDQ and I think there's a lot of profit margin on the "recalibration" element!

I did mention that I knew someone who had not been asked to pay for recalibration and he said that that could be due to how long a go it was (ie over 6 months) or, who you were insured by (ie insurer willing to pay). It could therefore have been done without a separate charge to you - or possibly not even done. He also said that the ADAS is quite likely to still work without recalibration as it is likely still pointing in the right general direction. A potential issue is that if you loaded up the vehicle it may not work in those circumstances if it is already slightly high. Obviously I don't know how much truth there is in that but maybe worth getting yours checked when next in Dealers for service?

Very interesting to read these comments.      Last week,I had a screen change in my x5  4.0d m sport,2016.  The Autoglass fitter was as efficient  as you could hope for.      After fitting the screen he took the car out for 10 minutes for calibrating the screen camera, and on return he showed me all the info.he had put into his hand held computer and that it showed ,"calibrated."  I paid £50 excess  to Autoglass, via the fitter ---I guess that depends on what insurance  we have.  I have LDWS and HUD,and everything works fine,so well done Autoglass.

Yes, the guy did the same sort of thing for me, except my insurer didn't pay the Calibration charge....
I expect that when the insurer pays it they negotiate a better rate :)
