Hi all just giving the car a once over and found that the drivers seat positioning electrics are not working correctly??
The switch controls for the seat positioning and memory unit are not working correctly,(the lumber control switch is working correctly)?
If you tap one of the position switches, say forwards and backwards it will judder the direction chosen by one click at a time, so if you constantly kept flicking the seat position forward say, it will judder forward one click at a time, if I hold the switch forward it will only judder forward the one click and no further.
Has anyone experienced this problem and how can it be repaired?
All advice greatly appreciated

BMW X5 E53 - Front Drivers Seat Controls Not Working Correctly??
Re: BMW X5 E53 - Front Drivers Seat Controls Not Working Correctly??
More than likely the seat module, but worth taking it out and use some contact cleaner on the plugs see if that works, if not, then it's a rather expensive module. To state the obvious, it's not a fuse as you have power. If memory serves right the lumbar isn't plugged into the seat module.

Thanks for the heads up, will try electrical contact cleaner tomorrow, and you're correct the lumbar is on a separate switch.

My lad got one from a scrappy oops I mean a recycling company for just over £60. I suppose going down that route is luck of the draw.

Re: BMW X5 E53 - Front Drivers Seat Controls Not Working Correctly??
It won't be the connections trust me. These modules fail after 10 years or so. I've had to replace both on our cars in the last 6 months at £90 a pop. Second hand.. New is a lot of dosh.
The lumbar control is separate from the other controls- that's why it still works.
You need to search hard to find the correct module for your seat and also look out for Range Rover modules as they were the same depending on the year. There are always a few on the bay.

If these electrical companies can repair an ABS module why can't they do a seat module, you never hear of one getting repaired, why.

thanks for the heads up on the Range Rover equivalent parts, searched them before for parts but didn't give it any thought until now.
And what's even better I've got module of an Range Rover L322 for £40 delivered the next day, all working correctly and put back together
thanks All

I'm lead to believe that it's the relay units that fail in these switch units and for a few quid I'm going to purchase a cheap small torx screwdriver set to get the back open on the switch module and see what's what.
will keep you posted...
