Kubica injured in rally accident

Former BMW Sauber Team driver Robert Kubica has suffered some nasty injuries in a WRC Rally crash in Andorra. Looks like he will miss the start of the F1 season. Details below..

I hope he recovers enough to take some part in the 2011 season. Hasn't had a lot of luck though.

Wouldn't wish harm on anyone but glad he's out for now I do hope he recovers ok although this might end his career

Seen pictures of his Skoda, it was in a right mess!!! Engine ripped out + every panel damaged. Most telling was the damage to drivers seat!!! Surprised he only has arm/hand injuries. Wish him a speedy recovery, not a great start for the new Lotus/Renault team.

Partially severed hand, 7 hours of surgery, questions being asked as to whether he'll ever be back in the top flight. A very promising talent - hoping that like Massa, he recovers well and makes it back. I guess if he doesn't he should consider himself lucky to be alive judging by the wreckage...

I think it has to be said that when he does have an 'off', it does tend to be spectacular

I too hope he gets well soon and makes a full recovery back to F1

Anyone else thinking this was a bit of a reckless venture five weeks before prior commitment in a multi million pound F1 season?

That said, I hope he recovers quick enough to leave him any chance at a championship shot.

Renalt said they were completely happy with him rallying and a number of drivers and riders do other things in the off season. I think these folks are Adrenalin junkies and need their fixes. It's supposed to keep them current I guess, especially given the limits on F1 testing that are now in place.

Well it looks like RK is out for the foreseeable future had another 8 hours of surgery yesterday and is in intensive care. He has been replaced by Nick Heidfeld at Lotus Renault GP.

Yup definitely out for the 2001 Season now. He has also just had a fourth round of surgery, this time on his elbow. Sounds like he was pretty smashed up and VERY lucky overall.

A real shame for him and the new team, but yes, very lucky to be alive!!!
