Drivers door lock and pdc

Post by davrostavros » Sat Jul 22, 2017 5:02 pm

Hello, the list of things I have found wrong with the car grows. Another two that I would like advice on from this excellent forum.

Just noticed this fternoon that when I use the key to unlock the car the drivers door doesn't unlock or lock, I have to use the key in the door. Don't know if I have knocked something when I took the door card off earlier in the week.

Secondly the PDC light flashes when I reverse  but I don't think the sensors are working, I haven't heard any beeps. There is occasionally a long beep when I put it into reverse but then nothing.

None of these are show stoppers, more niggles than anything else.

Ta very much

If the central locking was working ok before you removed the door cards, and now it's not, it does sound like you may have disturbed something.
As for the PDC, the long beep is to warn you that the system is malfunctioning.
The sensors are the most common culprits. Turn the ignition on and
press the PDC button and get up close to the sensors with your ear. Normally a good working sensor will make a clicking sound . If you get a duff one they generally don't make a clicking sound.
The rears are easy to change via the removable towbar and exhaust blanking plates.
The fronts are a bumper off job on the facelift cars.
The front outer sensors are the right angled ones too. The front centres and all the rear sensors are straight ones.
If you e got diognostics, run that too, but not an easy fault find unfortunately.

Your door lock problem I would be 99% sure is the plug in the door card, lever the whole switch out and the one with the thicker wires deals with your door locks, wriggle it in further, maybe spray it with contact cleaner.
you can start up, select reverse, switch off, put ignition back on, open tailgate and stand by each sensor in turn, they should beep individually as you move round the back.
