Photobucket no longer allowing sharing images to internet forums
Photobucket no longer allowing sharing images to internet forums
As title
An alleged photobucket T&C change means many websites now display dead links where photos used to be.
Annoyingly this may mean lots of useful info lost & many tutorials are no longer fully understood.
I suggest members consider using other image hosting sites & check t&c's to avoid similar issues.
In meantime it would be useful if members who have posted tutorials coukd consider transfering images to another host and editing posts with new url tags for new host(s).
Thank you.

Re: Photobucket no longer allowing sharing images to internet forums
Interesting, thanks for the clarification. I have no idea though why anyone would use photobucket as I just upload images directly from my pc or phone???
Re: Photobucket no longer allowing sharing images to internet forums
Smee - It used to be the only way of adding images until tiny URL came along.
AW8 - as I can still see my own images in the links I assume it must be other members that cannot see them?
I was aware of the change but as I am still seeing those images I assumed that my account was unaffected (not all accounts are). I think it is the 'free' types but can't be 100% on that. I'm in the process of moving images to cloud storage but with 1TB to transfer on slow broadband (no superfast in my area) it's taking a while

Re: Photobucket no longer allowing sharing images to internet forums
Morning,
I think photobucket have stopped 3rd party hosting for all free accounts... a ransom of $400/year is required to allow images to appear on 3rd party sites, so basically the free account just becomes a photo storage account. Photobucket says ad based revenue isn't enough now?
I've looked for different websites and most charge a yearly fee (or surprise you with this a month into your `trial`). The only one I've found so far is www.imgbb.com, however they have a 16mb limit so you may need to compress images to save room or make multiple accounts.

Those with 'paid' accounts will keep the ability to use 3rd party hosting on sites such as this UNTIL the end of our current subscription.....after which the $400/yr will be required >:(
I'll not be paying and will transfer the images. Might take me a while to fix the entries across posts having been a little....er...prolific as a contributor :-[ :'(

Re: Photobucket no longer allowing sharing images to internet forums
Tried imgur - still can't get it to appear in the box - just the link comes up. Is there a way to embed it in the post so you don't have o click on a link?
Seems you have to use the BB code and copy that link
