Hi all,
I noticed my 2003 X5 3.0d had the engine oil light flickering whilst stuck in traffic yesterday..however when i got over 30 mph it stopped..then again at slow speeds it started flickering again.
Has anyone had this issue or know what it is please?

Is it flashing orange or red ?.
I take it you have checked the oil level.

flashing red mate, oil level checked and is ok

Low oil pressure then.
Might be worth an oil and filter change to see if that makes any difference.
Get the oil pressure tested.
Also it could be a faulty sensor in the sump.

I had two oil pressure sensor failures on mine (the first when brand new!) so that would be the first thing to check as suggested above.
Never anthropomorphise computers. They hate that.
