Telephone Option no longer highlighted to be choosen?!
Telephone Option no longer highlighted to be choosen?!
Hey Guys, in dire need of assistance.......I can't choose the telephone anymore. I don't know why nor do I know what happened, but the option on my X5 M Sport Nav screen to choose telephone cannot be chosen anymore? It seems to be blocked out form being chosen. I'm baffled. Stumped completely! What do I have to do to get it back? Appreciate all assistance as soon as possible please.

Bluetooth pairing failed?

Yeah BlueTooth pairing failed and I've just been out in the car and notice now that the Telephone option has completely disappeared from the listing on the screen. I have a bad feeling about this! Anyone got any ideas as to what might be the cause or problem??

How old is the car? I suspect you may have a module failure - very common - and need a new BT or TCU module in the boot. It is plug and play. BMW will charge you a fortune for one so avoid unless made of money or covered under a warranty.
Realoem will give you the part number for the last issued module and you can then search for one on line but be aware there are a lot of early/duff Ines out there. Use the last 7 characters of your VIN to pull up your model car and the module is in this section (12/2004 build date as that was mine). Check which option code the car was built with though. The only Ines listed seem to be telematics versions now, or standalone Bluetooth.

It may be your Bluetooth module, But first check all the fuses associated with the telephone & Bluetooth system.
My phone disappeared off the sat nav screen, Ended up being a fuse thank god.

Fuses 7, 73 & 74 (last two are in the rear board). Unlikely to be 7 as that runs the head unit and other Nav functions up front, all of which seem to be working.

Id suggest a back to basics approach all know the batteries on these can cause weird, random and supposedly unrelated issues. Check the fuses first. Then fully charge the battery with ctek multi-stage conditioner or similar. Then fully disconnect the battery leads for fully 30 mins. Then reconnect and test. As you will have a fully charged battery and tested the fuses then as soon as you reconnect you will know if it was either of those issues before going to the module itself. also check the connection to the bluetooth unit itself.
Have you done a search on the forum as it has been discussed a few times and you may find some further info there?

Ive also noticed that the 2nd from top sticky at the top of the four you have posted in has 5 pages of bluetooth connectivity info. Read through all of it in case anything helps, if you haven't done so already
