Hi, I am new to this forum I have use other forums for different manufactures of vehicles but pretty new to the realm of BMW. So what brings me to xdrivers..... I am currently looking at a family members e83 x3 2007. 2.0 manual with what seems to be the all to common transfer case problems.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the area on here would be the best for finding information regarding this topic?

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Well I guess you have come to the right place. Have a look at the X3 section and do a quick search on the posts in there.
A lot of the probs with the transfer wind up on the X3 stem from different circumferences between the front and rear tyres esp with a staggered set up and made worse by the fitment of Non Star ratedtyres.
Basically the 4x4 system likes to be within a1% difference front to back and that is very little.
There was a post yesterday by Horizon onthis as he had the problem and he put a couple of useful links in this topic
