No preheat light coming up

Post by turbo970 » Sun May 21, 2017 1:57 pm

Hi, i have only had my car a week and so far love driving it, but have only just noticed that although it starts very well there seems to be no preheat light coming up which is a bit of a worry, does this mean that when the cold weather comes round its going to turn out that i bought a wrongun, ive looked in the manual and it shows one in the picture of display but nothing on my dash comes up, does anyone have any ideas on what this could be, thanks in advance for any help or advice, the car is an 04 plate 3.0d x5

The weather is too warm to need them, so no light.  Once we get back into frosty season (5°C) then you should start to see the light.  If you are worried before then, you will need a code read doing to see if any error with the glowplugs shows up  :)

and even then, unless it is very very cold, the light only comes on momentarily. Even on a cold day it is easy to miss it

Thanks for verifying that.
My e46 has the yellow light but no light on the x5.
I though something was wrong when the op said "light".
