Hi all - brand new, just need pointing in the right direction with Idrive

Post by marksimonpowell » Wed May 17, 2017 4:09 pm

Hi all I've just collected my X5 40d M Sport, never had a BMW so Idrive is brand new. Any must do's with Idrive? anything really cool to show off with? Is there an App or anything I need for my phone to connect to? any other cool advice would be great - thanks
If I'd known I was going to be this thirsty this morning I'd have drunk more last night!

Is the car brand new? I ask cos a brand new car will have i drive 5.0, which is slightly different from the "old" one...

BMW Remote is out there....but you need a current ConnectedDrive Account with BMW.

Send destination to car from phone, computer or tablet, with the same caveat as above.

I think setting up the shortcuts is a must.
Really handy to have tyre pressures, oil level and home on the sat nav all at one push of a button

Agreed on taking the time to set up the shortcuts. I have ring home, sat nav home, tyre pressures, oil level and saved DAB stations programmed.
The "cool" factor is being able to flash the lights, send a sat nav destination and turn the interior fans on  from the app IF you have connected drive. I find the lights and fans a bit MEH, but sending destinations very useful in my work. It means i jump in, and don't waste a few mins setting up sat nav
