Hey all,
So i've been having a bit of a mare with my X5 recently.
The rear airbags were going, so i ordered some from Aerosus and got the lovely PMW in Chelmsford to fit them.
But after they did, and because i had left it too long, the compressor was kaput.
Managed to limp the car to my parents house - bouncing around like a lunatic - and ordered an Aerosus compressor, and got it to a local mechanic who works on top end stuff through word of mouth, and his mate who is Ex BMW techie.
They replace the pump, and all is golden for 24 hours - the car rises and stays up as it should, pump silent as a mouse's fart.
But today, my Dad goes to take it out, and it throws up the self leveling error after about 5-10 miles.
Get it home, nothing on the code reader, so do the battery disconnect trick.
As expected, that threw up about 8 million dash warnings, that all went away after a short blast when the battery tops itself up and the car has a think.
But then after that, it throw up the suspension warning again, and starts sitting low.
Took it back to the mechanic, and he tries to fire the compressor via a computer and nothing, but it is taking a current. Also it blew and keeps blowing a 40 amp fuses under the dash.
Any ideas? Faulty control module? Lemon of a compressor?
Also, if the compressor is dodgy, Aerosus will return it under warranty, but i'll be out £150 for the labour. Is there anything i can do to get them to pay at least part of it?
TIA
