How long do these airbags last ?? mine do not need replacing,my E53 X5 is on a 56 plate,so do they have a long life or do they need replacing at specific time durations say like every 5 years or so.Or is it a case of how long is a piece of string ??

Not had any problems with mine thus far,but just wanted some indication as these do appear to be a common problem with the X5's.

Most owners don't have issues, but it is probably worth keeping an eye on now you are passed the 10-yr mark.

Had airbag on nearside go recently. Indy replaced with Arnott airbag. Part & fitting was £150.
